Itinerary

1
Day 1: London to Amsterdam

The adventure of a lifetime kicks off today. Meet up with your new Contiki family in London town before hitting the road to Amsterdam. Shortly before we find our ferry for France, we'll be taking in the English coastline beauty of the White Cliffs of Dover. They owe their gorgeousness to their composition of chalk - you're learning and we haven't even left the UK! Off the ferry we arrive in the port town of Calais - French soil! We travel north via Belgium before reaching...Amsterdam! Tonight, after an included dinner and a panoramic view of Amsterdam, the fun-famed Amsterdam is yours to explore in all its glory.

Accommodation: Via Hostel Amsterdam (or similar)
Meals: Dinner

Day 2: Amsterdam

Amsterdam is cute as a button & sure to win your heart with its canals, obscure museums & a café culture like no other. Today use your time to get local, bar hop, museum crawl, and see what other tastes take your fancy, this place is famous for pancakes, frites and so much more.

Accommodation: Via Hostel Amsterdam (or similar)

Day 3: Amsterdam to Berlin

Amsterdam, it's been lovely, but today's agenda is onto the autobahn and on the fast-track to uber-cool Berlin. On the world map of party vibes, Berlin has a gold star. We've got two nights to explore every inch of this iconic city, and we'll start them off with a driving tour. After that, you're free to explore, and maybe even sample some of that legendary nightlife for yourself...

Accommodation: Generator Alexanderplatz (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

4
Day 4: Berlin

Get into the mood of exploration with a historical walking tour where you'll discover 20th century Berlin (including Hitler's underground bunker & the Holocaust Memorial) with our local guide. Berlin has so much to offer the hungry traveller, from the obvious icons like Checkpoint Charlie to all the obscurities tucked away in the side streets. This evening we’ll embark on an Alternative Berlin walking tour, taking us to all the city’s hipster haunts.

Accommodation: Generator Alexanderplatz (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast

5
Day 5: Berlin to Prague

"More city hangs" you'll all scream in unison as we motor out of Berlin, high on life & still wanting more. Since you asked so nicely, let us present you with Prague, the darling of Europe.  A drive from Berlin to Prague would not be complete without stopping in Dresden. Destroyed by World War II, the rebuilt town is now a symbol of resilience, soaked in the rebirthed beauty of an Opera house, the domed Frauenkirche, & the Royal Residence. On arrival in the compact & lovable city of Prague, we'll get out and go exploring, seeing castles and cathedrals and learning of Bohemian Kings and gothic history.

Accommodation: Plus Prague (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

6
Day 6: Prague

With a full day to loiter, expect an entire photo album of Gothic architecture, market antiques & you cheers-ing beer; not to mention life! Tonight, you could see yourself spending the evening indulging in traditional Czech cuisine while admiring the local folklore dancers as the sun goes down on the 'City of a Hundred Spires'.

Accommodation: Plus Prague (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast

7
Day 7: Prague to Vienna

Today we exchange the Czech Republic for Austria, waving goodbye to pretty Prague knowing that cultured Vienna is coming right up.  Before Vienna we'll be stopping in the Bohemian city of Kutna Hora, remembering that Bohemia is the name of the place and not a nod to the fashion sense of the people that live there. Make the local Sedlec Ossuary chapel a high priority, it's decked out and furnished in the bones of over 40,000 ... humans. Eeep! Austria, we have arrived! It's time for a Habibi & Hawara dinner, followed by a classic night out in one of the city's imperial palaces (both totally optional, should you prefer to spend your evening relaxing in style.)

Accommodation: JO&JOE Vienna (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast

8
Day 8: End Vienna

Let's delay the inevitable goodbyes as long as we can. Enjoying a leisurely breakfast and taking some time to continue exploring Vienna should do the trick. Then at about lunch time things will start wrapping up - we'll talk shock about how much we've done in just over a week, and wish to the travel gods we could do it all again - 8 times over.

Meals: Breakfast

Contiki (CA)

Contiki is a New Zealand-based tour company that caters to 18 to 35-year-olds, offering over 350 different tours in over 75 countries in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, North America, South America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.[1] It is a subsidiary of The Travel Corporation. Its tours historically had a reputation for partying;[2][3] however, it also operates wellness trips culturally immersive experiences that focus less on alcohol, which are more popular with Generation Z.[4] The company owns lodging facilities in Europe, including the Chateau De Cruix, a 16th century castle in the Beaujolais wine region, and the Gasthof Schoneck in the Austrian Tyrol. The name "Contiki" comes from the portmanteau 'Con' from the word 'Continent' and 'Tiki'; from the Māori referring to the first man, often symbolised as a pendant known as hei-tiki. It can also be attributed to the New Zealand slang 'Tiki-tour' describing taking a longer route to a destination in order to explore.[5]

The trip was something I couldn’t have done/planned on my own. The leadership and planning by our manager and driver is soemthing I’m immensely grateful for. And I’ve made lifelong friends!

I am celiac and lactose intolerant. Before booking my trip, I explicitly asked the Contiki team if this would be an issue (since meals were included in the experience and price). They assured me at all times that this would be accommodated and that I would have access to gluten-free food at all times, ensuring my trip would be the same as my fellow travelers'. I HAD TO BUY MY OWN FOOD FROM EXTERNAL ESTABLISHMENTS BECAUSE I WAS NOT TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT. Everything was cross-contaminated, and the knowledge about the disease in food establishments was NON-EXISTENT. Contiki is now telling me that my condition is merely a request and that they cannot guarantee accommodating it (despite telling me the opposite before booking). I will never book a trip with them again and strongly advise anyone with allergies or intolerances not to do so either.

My trip manager couldn’t have been any better, she was so organised and attentive. The activities were perfect and i would definitely recommend contiki to anyone looking to make friends and travel. The support before going on the trip was super helpful and my guide, was in contact with me before my trip started as i was starting in a different country to everyone else. She made me feel super comfortable and excited!

Great trip, would definitely recommend if you want to see a few major cities in Europe in a short period of time. Realistically you get an evening and a full day (and evening) in each place so it's jampacked - but that was perfect for me! Contiki was great, tour manager and driver were super cool - the whole thing was just really well organised.

AMAZING!! I wasn't sure about a contiki initially being a solo female traveller in hostels and having some disappointing experiences with other tours from similar countries in the past but this trip was worth every cent and more. Our fearless leader Lawz not only made everything easy and exciting, but in just a few days managed to get even the most shy people in the group chatting away. The itinerary was quick but at no point did I feel like I was missing out on things, more so just seeing cities that I would love to come back to and spend more time in when I'm older (and my savings account isn't screaming at me haha). At no point did I feel unsafe, unsure or at a loss which is certainly no easy feat considering we had a new language every few days. Cannot recommend this trip enough, I'm sure I'll be telling stories from this trip 10 times too many for many years to come. Trip was easy to book and the lead up with confirmations, whats app groups etc made getting to and from start and end super convenient.
