Experience Overview
Charming hilltop towns, acres of lemon groves and vineyards, mile after mile of stunning cliffs kissed by cobalt-blue waters… its official name is the Amalfi Coast, but this magical land answers to "heaven." On this trip, you’ll live like one of the region’s (incredibly lucky) locals, discovering the small towns, mountain trails, and local customs of this uniquely beautiful place. Explore the ruins of Pompeii in the morning, hike the coastline of the Mediterranean by afternoon, and tuck into bed at your converted 17th-century monastery home base at sundown. It's paradise, found.

The primary reason for a score of 10 is our guide, Vincenzo. We expected the Amalfi coast to be beautiful, and it was. But Vincenzo elevated each location to a new level with his cultural and historical insight, anecdotes, enthusiasm and sense of humor.

Although I enjoyed the trip overall there were a couple of things that I found disappointing. First was the information in the trip description - there were several inaccuracies, and some missing information. Some examples - the instructions to get to the hotel in Naples from the train station stated it was 3 metro stops - it's 5 , the brochure stated there was an Amalfi Coast tourist tax payable in cash on arrival - there is not , the information about the hikes should have been more detailed and included the trail rating using a well known trail guide such as All Trails to describe whether the trail is moderate, challenging, etc. The list of suggested packing items should have included hiking / walking sticks with a comment to say that these can be rented on location.
