Itinerary

1
Day 1: London to Amsterdam

Gather round and start spreading the Easter cheer - we're going to Amsterdam! Start getting acquainted with your new posse and grabbing any last chocolate treats for the road before we head off.  Shortly before we find our ferry for France, we'll be taking in the English coastline beauty of the White Cliffs of Dover. They owe their gorgeousness to their composition of chalk - you're in awe and we haven't even left the UK! Off the ferry we arrive in the port town of Calais - French soil! We travel north via Belgium before reaching ... Amsterdam! Get straight down to business and enjoy a dinner with your new Contiki family before hitting the buzzing streets of Amsterdam. Fun fact: the city has 1539 bridges, 165 canals, and 2500 house boats. Yes, you read that right, and it's all here for you to explore.

Day 2: Amsterdam

Today is all about the cute vibes - get that camera on 110% charged. The world famous Keukenhof tulip gardens will wow us with their rows of dazzling colour (around 7 million bulbs if the truth be told) - this national flower garden is not to be missed and is sure to be one of the highlights of the trip. Back to the city, you can explore the canals, or maybe visit the Heineken museum for a tasty local drop. Add cream to your cake of the day by indulging in a traditional Dutch meal on a local cheese making farm where you will learn the art of the clog and learn a local game along the way.

Day 3: Amsterdam

Happy Easter global roamers! This morning we're heading to Edam for a change of scenery. Welcome to Edam. We will be taking a bike ride through Dutch countryside to see working windmills. Talk about a picture perfect scene. Back in the city you can roam the streets in holiday spirits, and perhaps dabble in the chocolate kind of dairy delights if the cheese didn't quite complete you. Today you could explore the endless museums of the city like the Rijks or make a sobering stop at Anne Frank - and that's just the tip of the iceberg of goodness to be found (make sure to book in advance for your favourites!). For those that like the laid-back approach, do some shopping, or just kick back amongst their famed cafe culture. Tonight, opt for a cruise through the canals to see the city under a flood of twinkling lights as you raise a toast to the trip.

Day 4: Amsterdam to London

It's time to hop over Belgian & French terrain and circle back to London. If the Easter Bunny is half as good to us next year, we are very spoilt indeed.  Back in London, it's time to say our goodbyes and sing any final praise to the damn fine Dutch Easter that just took place. Let's do it all again next year, festive travellers!

Contiki (CA)

Contiki is a New Zealand-based tour company that caters to 18 to 35-year-olds, offering over 350 different tours in over 75 countries in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, North America, South America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.[1] It is a subsidiary of The Travel Corporation. Its tours historically had a reputation for partying;[2][3] however, it also operates wellness trips culturally immersive experiences that focus less on alcohol, which are more popular with Generation Z.[4] The company owns lodging facilities in Europe, including the Chateau De Cruix, a 16th century castle in the Beaujolais wine region, and the Gasthof Schoneck in the Austrian Tyrol. The name "Contiki" comes from the portmanteau 'Con' from the word 'Continent' and 'Tiki'; from the Māori referring to the first man, often symbolised as a pendant known as hei-tiki. It can also be attributed to the New Zealand slang 'Tiki-tour' describing taking a longer route to a destination in order to explore.[5]

I enjoyed all of the local experiences and that it was a shorter trip. I don't always have time for a long trip, so this was perfect. I loved bike riding through Edam on Easter Sunday and learning about clog and cheese making. Overall this was a lovely little trip!

I'm really glad that I went with Contiki instead of by myself--Amsterdam is the kind of place that's best explored with new friends I think. The two main things I would have changed were as follows: 1. The time in the tulip gardens was about two hours too long (I think they left us there for four to five hours total and there's only so much you can do aside from looking at flowers). I didn't feel comfortable navigating public transit back to town on my own so I couldn't leave early. Less time there or help navigating back to the city would have been great! 2. The added extra of the clog making and dinner wasn't really a clog making demo, it was a sales pitch. I didn't mind too much as the dinner was fun, but I did feel a bit like I spent money to have someone try to sell things to me. I would still definitely recommend this trip in spite of those things! *Personal information removed by Feefo* was great, the transportation was great, and it was a fun time!

Fantastic trip, Kirstin and Kieran were awesome tour managers/drivers. The trip was well balanced with required and optional activities, with plenty of free time. The accommodation was great, albeit a bit far away from the main centre. The Facebook group was super useful, but may have been useful to have set up a bit earlier than it was. Would recommend this trip! Can't fault it, the only thing that would have helped myself personally was having some communication sooner- a lot of it happened in the 4 days leading up to the trip.

It was great value for money and the included activities were really worthwhile and great value too. Loved everything about Contiki, the whole process was very smooth from booking to the actual trip. I had to email customer service a few times about some queries I had and they were very good and prompt at the reply. I also thoroughly enjoyed my trip, I loved that everything was organised for us and that left the stress of planning and organising out. The trip managers Kirsten & Kieran were absolutely wonderful and super friendly. They went out of their way to make sure everyone had a great time. I will definitely go on another Contiki trip again!:)

The accommodation and included (& optional!) add ons were wonderful. Only downside was that I could've stayed longer. The trip manager and driver were absolutely fabulous (Kirstin&Kieran) on this weekend. No issue was too big for them and they were professional but fun.
