It can also be attributed to the New Zealand slang 'Tiki-tour' describing taking a longer route to a destination in order to explore.[5]

You definitely do see the best of USA in this trip! The places we visited were amazing and the accommodation was very nice especially in Las Vegas. My tour buddies were also very friendly and chilled out. I was told that the trip would start at the Line Hotel LA but then it got changed to the Kawada. I had already booked a room at the Line and was unable to get a refund, so I had to take a taxi to the Kawada the next morning.

This trip was exactly what I had hoped for and more. Our tour guild was fantastic, she had so much knowledge and was always on the ball so I could enjoy my trip without a worry. This was my first international solo trip and this contiki trip was definitely the way to go. Going with contiki took all stress away as Olivia would update us on where we’re going/staying and helped with everything including figuring out the flights and hotels. She also always had a positive attitude and made the experience very enjoyable 10/10 :)

The trip was absolutely amazing. We did and saw so much, our tour guide was incredible. She had so much local knowledge of each place we visited and ensured we got the most out of every day. I cannot express how grateful I am to have had her for our tour. If you’re thinking of booking this trip, do it!!

I had the best time! I was a little concerned, as I had no idea what to expect, but from the moment I met our tour guide, I knew I’d made the right decision. She was funny, and obviously very passionate about her job, and her enthusiasm for the places we visited was infectious. We saw the most amazing sights, I did things I never expected myself to do, and I met the most amazing people who I hope to keep in touch with. I’m so glad I booked this trip!

Best of the USA was fantastic! It covered all the bases and had a good amount of free time. It definitely gave us the confidence to travel on our own after the trip. Our trip manager was incredible, she knew where all the good spots were and made us feel super comfortable. Would highly recommend!

The destinations decided were absolutely great. Did not expect Miami to be such a fun time! Highly recommend the add ons such as the Las Vegas Wedding Chapel, ATV etc. great fun! Have to make a special mention to our Tour Guide she made this trip from good to great! Very informative, very helpful, always understanding, continuously went above and beyond making it fun for everyone. Just to be picky the only one thing I would ask Contiki to reconsider is regarding the accommodation in Miami with Moxie. The continental breakfast offered is very poor, to the extent that various cereals were on offer but the staff refused to provide bowls, stating we had to use plastic cups. Further to this, they did not have the breakfast ready on the day we were leaving but our Tour Guide went above and beyond, arranged for a drink and snack, which really speaks to her professionalism and dedication. Overall fanastic trip!

It was the time of my life was an electric tour guide! She gave us great advice, and recommendations as well as educated us on all the cities we were entering. It was a pleasure to be travelling with her. If it wasn’t for I don’t think we would’ve have the best time that we did. Especially dealing with people who make it hard to have a good time, she did so well considering. I do think that the LA part of our trip could have more activities as it is so large and there’s so much to do there. I also think excluding the location, the Miami accomodation wasn’t as nice as the rest of the hotels we stayed. I do think as this tour is in major cities there should be a lot more options for optional activities too. But that’s just my personal opinion. I booked through a travel agent so it was pretty easy for me.

Overall, the itinerary and destinations are good and I would recommend going there, especially staying a few days early in LA and a few days late in New York. However, I felt the actual Contiki itself wasn't that worth it - it felt like me and my friend may as well have just done the trip ourselves, and I say this having done a previous contiki in another destination which was excellent. The trip manager did not do any icebreakers early on and as a result, our group, albeit small, didn't really know each other that well and wasn't that close. Contiki does not do that much included experiences and add-ons, we had to do those ourselves. Our trip manager did include some additional activities, however they were mainly centred around sports and drinking. They also do not give you any tours around the cities you visit (with the exception of LA). Additionally, the restaurants and clubs they took us to weren't that great. Our accommodation was especially poor in Miami and New York.
