Experience Overview
Sparkling seas, white sands, historical hotspots, Croatia is the Mediterranean jewel that has it all. And there's no better way to experience this paradise than by island hopping your way from beach to beautiful bay. From the ancient hamlets of Hvar island and the Venetian architecture of Korcula to Dubrovnik’s iconic Old Town, we'll cruise along the Adriatic on our very own traditional sail boat, soaking up all those rays while we drift lazily under the cloudless skies. Bliss.

FAQs
- Split: Can I share a room with my partner on this trip? Yes, mostly. If you’ve booked together with a partner or a friend on a twin-share trip, you’ll be roomed together. If travelling alone, you’ll stay in a twin-share room with other travellers of the same sex. Please be aware that there are different options and prices when booking the Croatia Island Sail trip, On Deck and Below Deck, and you can only be roomed together if you have paid for and selected the same option at time of booking. If you’re travelling with your friends and have made separate bookings, don’t forget to tell our 24/7 support team that you’re travelling together. The Trip Manager will always try their best to put you in the same room. But please note, this can’t always be guaranteed.
- Split: What’s the difference between the rooms on the boats? Standard boats will have sun-decks so you can soak up the sunlight. Premium boats (the Plus version of our trip has Premium boats) have larger sundecks with a mid-weekly linen service. And as the name suggests - Luxe boats have bigger rooms and a special food menu.
- Split: Do the rooms on the boat have air conditioning? Yep, all bedrooms on the boats have air conditioning. They’re small and fit perfectly into the cabins (and work great for a quick cool down).
- Split: Do all rooms on the boats have shared toilets? All rooms are fitted with an ensuite. The premium boats tend to have bigger bathrooms.
- Split: At what time will we be docking back into the last city? If the weather gods are on our side (which they usually are), we should be docking back up in Split at 3PM.
Included Experience
- Split: We’ll feed you while you sail around Croatia. So you can just focus on getting the perfect sunset selfie.
- Hvar: See the historical Hvar Spanish Fortress, Arsenal and St. Stephen's Square. Don’t forget your camera.
- Korčula: This 13th Century walled city is framed by terracotta-topped buildings, rugged mountain scenescapes and turquoise waters.
- Split: Check out one of the best-preserved Roman buildings in the world. So beautiful, you’ll want to move in!

Itinerary
Ready to kickstart your Croatia sail trip? This morning we'll meet in Split, boarding our boat with, you guessed it, boat loads of enthusiasm. After our first stint at sea we’ll arrive in the glamorous playground of Hvar, where big shiny boats meet grand historic architecture. Once you've taken in the sites, you will dine alfresco on board, it’s a tough day in paradise.
Accommodation: Sail Boat
Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Korčula may sit incredibly close to the mainland of Croatia but it's an island all of its own, which means we'll be slipping into island vibes accordingly. Hidden bars, peachy sunsets & cobbled streets by the beach, your appreciation for this country will be skyrocketing (even more if you choose to go on an epic buggy adventure today!)
Accommodation: Sail Boat (Korcula, Croatia)
Meals: Breakfast
This morning we'll wake up in beautiful Korčula but we'll then be heading off to Dubrovnik. In the words of Bernard Shaw, acclaimed socialist & playwright, "those that seek paradise on earth should seek it in Dubrovnik." You heard the man - let's do this! Welcome to Paradise. Home to rugged cliffs, lashing seas, historic buildings (and a tonne of Game of Thrones references.) Today you'll have the chance to explore Dubrovnik on foot with a local guide. Tonight, head for the nightlife of the Urban District. Partying not your thing? No biggie. There are plenty of local restaurants, bars and cafes for you to check out too!
Accommodation: Sail Boat
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
The city of Dubrovnik is so much more than just a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a Game of Thrones location - not that either of those claims to fame are even mildly mediocre. Visit Dubrovnik's Old Town, The Minceta Tower and Fortress Lovrijenac - otherwise known as GoT's King's Landing, entrance to the House of the Undying and The Red Keep. Or grab a kayak and view the magnificent city walls from the turquoise sea.
Accommodation: Sail Boat
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
You think we're done sailing around Croatia? Not a chance. This morning we'll sail past the palms, cypresses, olive trees, citrus plantations and colourful reefs of the Elaphite Islands. As the sun sets, we'll dock at the unspoiled village of Trstenik. Here we'll have the chance to support and visit a family-owned winery and of course, sample some wine too. Then it's back to the boat for an optional Captain's dinner and a night of ship shenanigans.
Accommodation: Sail Boat
Meals: Breakfast
After the peace and tranquillity of Trstenik, it’s time to head back to the mainland for more action. After a spot of swimming we’ll arrive in Makarska where we’ll be blessed by the beautiful Biokovo mountains and a long stretch of beach ready to be enjoyed.
Accommodation: Sail Boat (Makarska, Croatia)
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
With one night left of the Mediterranean high life, we'll sail back to our starting point of Split. Now contented by our time at sea, we can relax & soak up the Roman heritage of this atmospheric city, revel in more Game of Thrones' filming locations and indulge in a final optional dinner in the heart of the historic city.
Accommodation: Sail Boat
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
There you have it, the astonishing beauty of Croatia and its cluster of islands. You probably always imagined you'd be blown away by it, but the new squad of life-long pals will be the real surprise.

Our trip manager was a wonderful human and went the extra mile to make sure we have an amazing time. The crew on our Ship were the best and really made our holiday so lovely. I would recommend this trip to all my friends and family. Croatia is incredibly beautiful and I believe this was one of the best ways to experience it. Contiki sent all the info we needed for our visas as well as our trip planning. I went with a few friends and we requested to live close together which they accommodated perfectly.

Group members were outstanding, but my trip manager was spectacular and convinced me to consider trip managing as a job for the next few years. Easy to book, did it through a contiki representative over messages on their website, was made extremely easy even when I had to make multiple changes to the booking.

Honestly the best week of my life. Our trip manager made it the best week possible she was professional yet so much fun and became one of us. She made us into a family and I couldn’t thank her enough. She was so attentive and caring as well. Yes we did it through a travel agent and all was so easy.

It’s hard to choose just one when everything was so fantastic! But I’m a huge believer of people having the ability to change your trip from great, to fantastic! Getting to know the passengers, crew and trip manager was what brought my trip to the next level! There is so much I could say about our Trip manager but I’ll stay brief and say she was able to elevate our trip to the best experience I’ve had so far! She was knowledgeable, kind, fun and knew exactly what she was doing! She made our experience 100 times better than I ever expected! Honourable mention to the trip managers on the other boats too who also were just amazing and made an effort to get to know me even tho I wasn’t on their trip! Booking was great, it was easy. Only thing I would say was maybe have an option on the trips main page about having the summer/winter itinerary. It was quite difficult to figure out you have to swap pages, select an actual date before seeing the proper itinerary.

The itinerary was perfectly spaced, giving enough time for rest, relaxation, and swim stops during the day, paired beautifully with activities in town at night. The optional activities I did were organized and worth the money. I couldn't have asked for s better tour manager as she was a perfect mixture of professionalism and energy, meaning everyone respected her position of authority on the boat while also finding it fun and easy to engage with her. My recommendation for other travelers is to carry a lot of cash, not just because the towns accept cash more than cards, but it's needed to pay for your inevitable bar tab at the end. The information was emailed out promptly, with everything you needed to know. Our TM had all of us in a WhatsApp group and had pinned the location of the ship the morning we arrived so all of us were able to find the ship without a hitch.

Had the most amazing time, exceeded expectations all because of our trip manager who absolutely made the experience top tier. The boat itself had everything we needed and more, from the spacious rooms to the delicious food (I’m gluten free and they were very accommodating). The trip was super easy to book, the cancellation policy also alleviated a lot of stress for future planning.

They were great to be around and the food was so much better than I had expected. Everything was super easy and whenever I had any questions they were answered super quick.
