Itinerary
Here we are in the arms of Germany, the first of 6 incredible countries we're going to get very familiar with over the next 13 days. Settle in to your new digs before we head out to start the exploring. This city is one of the world's most historical spots, where history and modern Europe come together. And let us tell you, it is seriously cool. We'll down some traditional German food at a local restaurant to start the trip right. This is happening! We'll then see the longest remaining section of the Berlin Wall known as East Side Gallery and one of the city's symbols, covered in grafitti from head to toe.
Accommodation: Ibis Berlin Messe (or similar)
Meals: Dinner
We'll dive right in with an A to Z of the city. Then, opt onto a historical walking tour & see where many East Berliners tried to escape to the West at Checkpoint Charlie, the Berlin Wall, the Holocaust Memorial and Brandenburg Gate. Follow up by shopping boutiques and perusing the street art and pokey galleries symbolic of Berlin's creative scene, stopping to re-fuel on a beer or two.
Accommodation: Ibis Berlin Messe (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast
This morning we head to the border and stop at a city called Dresden. Destroyed by World War II, the rebuilt city is now a symbol of resilience, soaked in the rebirthed beauty of an Opera house, the domed Frauenkirche, & the Royal Residence. By the afternoon we'll be Czech side, heading to the buzzing capital city of Prague. Always down to explore, we'll waste no time getting acquainted with castles, bridges, gothic cathedrals & general prettiness galore on an included guided tour of the city on foot. You'll be feeling like a local in no time at all. The evening will see us immerse ourselves in Czech culture with an optional Traditional Czech evening, featuring a folklore show and dinner.
Accommodation: B&B Hotel Prague (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast
Prague is yours to uncover, one trdelník (chimney cake) at a time. We'll explore the city one of our favourite ways today, by boat, taking in the epic spots that have put this Eastern European city on the map. Use your free time to shop for some famous Bohemian beads and amber jewellery or dive a little deeper into the lanes and courtyards of the Old Town. For lunch, join us for a food walking tour! Then sus out a rooftop bar for a cocktail overlooking the city before we regroup for dinner in a local restaurant this evening.
Accommodation: B&B Hotel Prague (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Just remember, with every great city we leave behind we find another one, and today we have Vienna in our sights. Out of Prague, our first stop is the World Heritage-listed Kutná Hora. Make the local Sedlec Ossuary chapel high priority, it's decked out and furnished in the bones of over 40,000 ... humans. And trust us it's a must see in this part of the world. Here in Vienna, we’ll be greeted by Baroque streetscapes and trendy coffee shops, it’ll be pretty hard not to fall in love instantly. You can end the day at one of the world's most historic theme parks: Prater, and eat schnitzel in the leafy surrounding park.
Accommodation: Senator Hotel (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast
With so much to do and see, we’ll take a city tour, seeing the grandeur of Hofburg Palace, the uber elegant State Opera House and the gothic masterpiece of St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Afterwards, pop by the Vienna Museum of Art or roam the streets on architectural observation. Tonight you have the chance to visit Habibi & Hawara for a wholesome Make Travel Matter® dinner and then please your sense of sound with the classical music this city is famous for at a traditional concert in a real life PALACE. Mum would be so proud!
Accommodation: Senator Hotel (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast
Vielen dank, Vienna! We are officially in love with everything you are. We'd stay for another strudel but we've heard about these famous Hungarian fried flatbreads topped with sour cream and cheese and we're a little bit intrigued... There's nothing like stopping for lunch in an entirely new country before moving onto another, this is Europe after all. We'll stretch our legs in the Slovakian capital with a stroll in the Old Town and come across it's famous statues. They all have a story behind them, and you'll learn about them all. Fun fact #1: Buda and Pest are two different cities separated by a river, together they make Budapest. Fun fact #2: You're going to be head over heels with both of them by the time we scoot outta here. After a satisfying day of sightseeing of both sides of the city, and all the sights you've seen or read about, down goulash and cabbage rolls on tonight's Danube cruise; you'll be completely in the Hungarian spirit of things by the time we dock.
Accommodation: Ibis Budapest City South Hotel (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast
Those still keen to explore can jump on the Budapest Past and Present Tour and continue learning about this incredible city. The House of Terror, the Parliament Building, and some blissful surroundings, this will take you on a journey of old and new. After all the beauty and knowledge you soaked up yesterday at the church of St. Matthias, the Royal Palace and the Chain Bridge, you'll probably be feeling like a day soaking in the cities famous outdoor thermal pools set amongst Art Nouveau architecture while getting a bargain-priced massage - because why not. Blissed out in Budapest - there's an Insta caption for you.
Accommodation: Ibis Budapest City South Hotel (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast
3 countries in one day - we can and we will! In no great hurry we will float out of Hungary with a sojourn through Slovakia (oh hello again) before we head into Poland for dinner. Ah, the life of a traveller. Pastel painted and manicured to perfection, Banska Bystrica is a lunch break that will charm you to no end. Make this a real box ticker by tucking into an item of Slovakia's traditional creamy, dumpling filled cuisine. Once the capital of Poland, Krakow is now known for its silver mining heritage and tales of mythical dragons. Tonight we take you to one of our favourite restaurants for a traditional feed, then you can rest up knowing we have all day tomorrow to get our Polish on.
Accommodation: Vienna House Easy Cracow (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
A Jewish Quarter, a jaw-dropping castle & museums aplenty are just some of the relics found in the relatively untouched Krakow. The UNESCO World Heritage-listed centre should occupy your time with an included sightseeing tour with our Local Guide. You'll even see a fire breathing dragon, very Game of Thrones might we add. Beautiful old town square will leave you charmed and packed full of knowledge once the tour wraps up. What else? We recommend you also conserve some energy for the option to get involved with a traditional Polish Pierogi (dumpling) evening, consisting of, well, dumplings. Collective YUM at these sweet and savoury treats.
Accommodation: Vienna House Easy Cracow (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast
This morning we change our tune and take a moving stop at Auschwitz, the most infamous former Nazi concentration camp and a very sobering experience. We will change pace as we drop to an unfamiliar level by visiting the concentration camp memorials of Auschwitz & Birkenau. Learning and growing is what we travellers do. We'll arrive in Warsaw where you'll have a free night to grab dinner in the Old Town. But remember we have all day tomorrow to explore, so there's no need to start whipping through the to-do list just yet.
Accommodation: Ibis Budget Ostrobramska (or similar
Meals: Breakfast
You didn't think we were winding down now, did you? Gosh no. Tragic bombings after the war have seen this city experience a re-birth, and it's packed with museums, a buzzing street art scene, and cool vibes dotted with a dose of random to keep us on our toes. Your Local guide will give you the insider track as we take it all in on foot. A renowned musical city, keep your ears open day long and see what sound pleasures you also stumble upon. Oh what a tour it has been. We've eaten, strolled and learnt more than we thought possible, and no doubt made some unbreakable bonds along the way. We'll end the night with a wholesome dinner, with even more luscious Polish food (it's our treat to you!) and over drinks we'll reminisce on the good times!
Accommodation: Ibis Budget Ostrobramska (or similar
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Whether you choose to hitch a free ride back to Berlin or you end your festivities here in Warsaw, the pain will be equally unbearable. We have just two words: Reunion Trip.

Was my first ever contiki so I was quite anxious before hand, however this trip was amazing! Everything was organised perfectly and planned out super well allowing us to see so much of the city within the little time we had in each place! It's definitely on the go, but it's so worth it in the end! The add on activities are super amazing too!! Would 100% recommend.

I really loved our group as everyone got along and we all had so much fun the blend of both party and history/sight seeing was great as you got the best of both worlds. It was an overall amazing stress-free trip. The trip was easy to book but the amount of reminder emails was excessive. I had a plan to pay on a certain day but I kept getting so many emails regarding payment. It was very pushy and unpleasant.

Firstly, I found *Personal information removed by Feefo* to be a fantastic guide, his attention to detail, his passion about each country, from the historical sites to recommendations of places to see and dine at were always on point. He's attention to care, made it feel like you were travelling with a very attentive friend who had planned this whole trip and you could just follow along. His pre prep planning, the guides and day sheets he created were super helpful. The time spent in each country was good and mostly enough, Poland with the most days was perfect. I chose this trip to get 'a taste' of each place so I know which ones to go back too- I do think at booking time it would be good to know when public holidays are so you therefore don't miss out on places and therefore book a FTA instead. James orientation and walking tours were fab! The places were stayed at I enjoy, considering they were basic I have stay in worse hotels and hostels sol didn't mind them. Transport with the bus was good. I didn't feel crazy rushed but with dinner plans sometimes that only because traffic had made us late sometimes but always needed patience. I would give *Personal information removed by Feefo* 5/5 stars, the trip could've had an extra two days (extra day in Vienna, Prague or Budapest would've been top notch). Overall trip was great fun; good vibe of people and easy to get along - 42 people is A LOT of people, I've done tours with 12-16 people which is better, for me personally, but it was hard to misplace anyone. I thoroughly enjoyed Pierogi making, although the instructor only gave 5 people the option to do and then, us as travellers had to organise who would go next and swap around. Also enjoyed river cruise dinner and baths in Budapest. The trip to Auschwitz and Bikenhau was also very good, guide was respectful and honest.

Positives: - our tour guide, James, was incredible. His local knowledge of each city was outstanding, as well as his suggestions for food, bars and activities. Everyone else on the tour had the same comments. - not having to worry about hotels and transport between the cities. Contiki does all of this for you. - the great people you meet on your trip Negatives: -there were several days we did not have access to the coach (our driver had to rest, completely understandable). However, on those days, we were required to pay for public transport to get around, an additional expense I had not anticipated. - the FTAs really add up quickly, and some are not worth it at all. It's also annoying that most of the walking tour FTAs are grouped with other paid activities, so if you want to do the walking tour, you have to do the other activity as well. There's no option to just do the walking tours. - difficulty in finding laundromats near the hotels, many were a 10-15 minute walk away. In some cities, there were no laundromats within 20 minutes of our hotels. our hotels were all located really far from the city centres, adding to the cost of paying for public transport and the difficulty in finding laundromats.

Trip manager *Personal information removed by Feefo* & driver *Personal information removed by Feefo* were a great team and very friendly. Some of the hotel choices were not the best- small and stuffy rooms with AC not always working properly. The contiki customer service was very helpful. This was my first contiki so I had a lot of questions, and they were wonderful!

Everything from start to finish on eastern road was great and the tour manager and bus driver were gold class. I would like to sincerely thank *personal info removed by Feefo* for an incredible eastern road tour. His knowledge, professionalism and also willingness to get involved and have fun with the group and have a laugh made the trip so much more memorable. This tour can get heavy at parts due to the nature of the history experienced in certain locations and *personal info removed by Feefo* handled this with such professionalism and care, I know the whole tour really appreciated the way this was handled. Give this man a promotion, he is what every contiki guide should be!!

*personal info removed by Feefo* was out TN and he was so so knowledgeable! He was able to balance out how we could go out and have fun but also understand the history of places we went to! Asked a question prior to my trip and Contiki never got back to me.
