Visit Area: Strasbourg
Strasbourg is the capital of the region of Alsace in eastern France and the seat of the European Parliament. It is located just west of the Rhine River and the German border near the Black Forest. The region has been passed back and forth between France and Germany many times over the centuries, but it has remained French since the end of WWII. The whole city center was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988. It is famous for its 12th-century cathedral (the tallest in the world after the Giza Pyramids when it was completed in 1439), and was the place where Johannes Gutenberg introduced the first movable type printing press.
This morning, enjoy scenic sailing through the picturesque Moselle River valley. After lunch onboard, the river brings you to Bernkastel, a charming wine town nestled along the Moselle. Spend the afternoon strolling through its medieval lanes on a guided walk, taking in half-timbered houses, the lively market square, and the timeless charm that defines this storied riverside community.

Visit Area: Bernkastel
Meaning "bear castle", Bernkastel is a small town located in the Moselle Valley with approximately 8000 people. Sights such as the Medieval Market Square with preserved half-timber buildings and the pointed house of Karlsstrasse built in 1416 provide photographic opportunities for tourists throughout the town. Besides the historic sites, tourists can also imbibe in the different varieties of Riesling from the numerous wineries featured in this wine-growing region.

By mid-morning, your ship arrives in Cochem, a storybook town overlooking the water. Visit Area: Cochem
Cochem was settled long ago, as early as Celtic and Roman times. In 1332, Cochem was granted town rights, and shortly thereafter, the town fortifications, which still stand today, were built. Interesting legends, amazing folklore and a rich web of history are woven into every street of Cochem. Cochem’s picturesque beauty makes it a favorite place for visitors. It is the center of the Mosel wine trade. It wasn’t until the early 19th century that the first real tourists came to Cochem who were mostly English artists that recorded the romance and beauty of the Mosel Valley in their drawings.
Wake up to scenic sailing as your ship continues along the Rhine. Around midday, your journey takes you to Cologne. After lunch onboard, join your fellow travelers for a walking tour of the city’s Gothic Old Town. Wander along cobblestone streets and admire the Cologne Cathedral, the Roman Dionysus mosaic, and the Romanesque church of St. Martin. Top off the walking tour with a tasting of Cologne’s famous Kölsch beer.

This is the capital city of The Netherlands, with a population of about 1.5 million in the metro area. It is known for its rings of canals, the Red Light District, the Anne Frank House and its famous museums (Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, etc.). Amsterdam has a rich history in commerce, mostly due to the country’s colonies all over the world, and this gives the city a fascinating flavor and diverse population even now. A Story of Hard Work and a Passion for Travel “Our first office was so tiny that if you took a step backwards, you fell down an open hole that was stairs to the basement. Now we are a worldwide company with offices in the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom.” – Alice I. Sullivan, Chairperson of the Collette Board.Collette is about family As his family grew, Dan’s children took on active roles in the company – in sales, tour development, marketing, tour guiding, and in its charitable arm. Working with a team of dedicated employees, they all stayed true to the original vision of expanding travel opportunities for everyone. That tradition continued as Dan’s eldest child, Dan Sullivan Jr., took the reins as President and CEO in 1990 and the company flourished. Collette_HQ_380x250_v2 The third generation of Sullivans entered the company in the early 2000s, and in 2018 Dan Sullivan Jr.’s daughter, Jaclyn Leibl-Cote, became President & Chief Customer Experience Officer. The sights were wonderful but very limited on time. Would have been nice to have a few more options to really take in the stops.

I thought the accommodations on Amadeus were excellent; so, too, the meals, housekeeping and service. All excellent. The excursions were less so--too rushed, poor guides, too crowded; not enough free time.

Very good. Almost excellent. The best thing was "gentle walkers". Strasbourg, walking tour did not have gentle walkers, and was a bit too strenuous for some. Disembarking orientation was a bit confusing. Food staff and housekeeping were absolutely excellent.

Our tour manager, Polina, was very good and tried to make the walking tours more accommodating for the slow and fast walkers. However she couldn't control the time length of walking and the time spent in the town centers for browsing and shopping. Overall, it was very hurried experience.
