Contiki (CA)
Contiki is a New Zealand-based tour company that caters to 18 to 35-year-olds, offering over 350 different tours in over 75 countries in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, North America, South America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.[1] It is a subsidiary of The Travel Corporation. Its tours historically had a reputation for partying;[2][3] however, it also operates wellness trips culturally immersive experiences that focus less on alcohol, which are more popular with Generation Z.[4] The company owns lodging facilities in Europe, including the Chateau De Cruix, a 16th century castle in the Beaujolais wine region, and the Gasthof Schoneck in the Austrian Tyrol. The name "Contiki" comes from the portmanteau 'Con' from the word 'Continent' and 'Tiki'; from the Māori referring to the first man, often symbolised as a pendant known as hei-tiki. It can also be attributed to the New Zealand slang 'Tiki-tour' describing taking a longer route to a destination in order to explore.[5]

Great experience, every place was different, the group we travelled with was great. Only other things to mention is that you are covering a lot of ground in about 8 days so there is a lot of time on the bus, but I didn't mind this too much. Some of the hotels are on the older side but very unique looking so again all part of the experience. I would have liked a bit more explanation during the bus tour as to where we were and what we were seeing, and maybe the history of morocco or each place, but you get a lot of this off the bus during local tours.

This was a great trip! Aissa was a great guide and had some much knowledge and information to give. Very fast paced trip, but worth it to be able to see so many different locations. Would recommend this trip to everyone.

It was the perfect way to see such a beautiful country! A great mix of cities, medinas, and picturesque views. Such a culturally rich experience; highly recommend!!! Easy to book. Once booked however more communication about airport transfer and pre trip preparation would be nice!

Had an absolutely amazing time. I learned so much about the country from our tour guide and felt safe the entire time. I only wish the trip could have been longer. I would have enjoyed extra time in some places and a little more free time without having to miss out on anything we already did.

The destinations and tour guide and driver were great. Wish we had more time in Chefchaouen. Wish less time in the car, but recognize that's hard with all the stops and sites to see.

A highlight for me was the kindness of both our driver and tour guide who are Moroccan along with the warmth and kindness of Moroccan people in general. Coming from the cultural area I'm currently living, it was beyond expectations and I had some truly special experiences with the Moroccan people Whoever is in charge of running the reunion tours for contiki really should have an evaluation and perhaps a change in leadership should be implemented. When this style of travel was first introduced, it was described as better accommodations and a slower pace with the same contiki company you loved for ages 35 to 45. That was my experience in Greece in 2022 and all the trips that have followed have failed to live up to that expectation set by contiki. The trips now are scheduled during the worst part of the season to travel in that location almost as an afterthought. Additionally, they appear to mirror the trips for the 18-year-olds exactly with the same accommodations, the same grueling pace. Only the age group of people allowed to show up is different. If contiki was having a hard time filling up their tours and that led to this shift in strategy for the reunion travel style, then that is a failure of the leadership running that program. Perhaps contiki should not be focused on only letting people that traveled in the past into these tours, but instead branching out to anyone in the age group and then running the tours at a slower pace with better accommodations and scheduled during the best part of the season to travel to that location. Many of the people on my trip have said they are no longer willing to travel with contiki after their recent experiences. It appears that contiki at this point is exploiting a small group of people that continue to sign up for tour after tour until the group is small enough to no longer be profitable for them. This exploitation shows that the company is focused solely on profit and money and not on the actual experience that was promised.
