Itinerary

1
Day 1: Windhoek

Your trip starts in Namibia's capital, Windhoek. After meeting the group at the start hotel we’ll go out into town for our first dinner together at the legendary Joe's Beerhouse, sampling some of Namibia's cuisine.

Accommodation: Town Lodge, Windhoek (or similar)

2
Day 2: Windhoek to Sossusvlei

After breakfast, we'll hit the road together to admire the beautiful countryside. Namibia's main attractions are spaced far apart so expect some long drives with jaw-dropping views along the way. Beautiful desert scenery, as well as historical and cultural stops on the route - we promise the drives won't be a bore. Our first stop will be for lunch near the Nauklauft Mountain Range on a vineyard, in the middle of the desert. Wine tasting anyone? This evening, we arrive at our accommodation near one of Namibia's most iconic attractions: Sossusvlei, a huge salt and clay pan framed by enormous dunes (some of the highest in the world). We'll check in to our lodge and then get ready for a morning’s exploration with a big ol’ buffet dinner.

Accommodation: Soft Adventure Camp (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

3
Day 3: Sossusvlei to Swakopmund

We're up early today – let’s get exploring the desert before it’s too hot! We start out at the Namib-Naukluft National Park, keeping our eyes open for Oryx and other desert-dwelling wildlife. Soon we'll jump off the vehicles and take a mesmerising walk into the sand dunes (barefoot of course) with cameras ready for 360 degrees views. Wandering along Big Daddy sand dune and down into Deadvlei, admiring the views, you’ll finally realise where your desktop background images come from. We'll hit the long road again, admiring more scenery on our way to the coastal town of Swakopmund. After checking into our hotel take yourself for a sunset stroll and enjoy some of the local delicacies here.

Accommodation: Prost Hotel (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast

4
Day 4: Swakopmund

Welcome to Swakopmund, AKA adventurer's paradise as we explore the ocean and the surrounding desert. Wanna catch glimpses of dolphins, whales and seals (and other fascinating marine life)? Then join us for a morning seal kayaking experience at Pelican point. This afternoon, you have free time to explore this quaint German Town as you please. So, go for a beer in a Brauhaus, grab lunch on the pier, or even better - head to the dunes for a dose of adventure. And if you're more about those chill vibes, you'll love the tour of Mondesa Township this evening, where you'll meet the locals and feast on a home-made dinner in a traditional restaurant.

Accommodation: Prost Hotel (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast

5
Day 5: Swakopmund to Etosha

Today we head back inland for our Namibian safari destination of choice – Etosha. Before we arrive, we’ll stop off in the Erongo Mountains to visit the San Bushmen of Omandumba. Here, we’ll learn some of their language and be wowed at their skills and crafts as they educate us on how to survive and thrive in harsh desert conditions. Then we're headed to our accommodation near Etosha (a pan so large it can be seen from space!). But it's the natural waterholes lining the edge that interests the wildlife, and that's why it interests us. Enjoy sundowners at the lodge while the excitement builds for tomorrow's game drive.

Accommodation: Ijaba Lodge (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast

6
Day 6: Etosha

We're up early for our first Namibian game drive in Etosha! From big cats to desert-savvy antelope, the wildlife viewing experience here is like nowhere else on Earth. At midday we'll head back to the lodge for lunch and siesta by the pool. Tonight, on our last night together, we’ll treat ourselves to one last buffet dinner.

Accommodation: Ijaba Lodge (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

7
Day 7: Etosha to Windhoek

After breakfast, we drive back down to Windhoek to catch the afternoon flights back home, saying goodbye to new friends but cherishing our lifelong memories.   Please Note: Do not book flights that depart before 14:30pm on the last day of the trip.

Meals: Breakfast

Contiki (CA)

Contiki is a New Zealand-based tour company that caters to 18 to 35-year-olds, offering over 350 different tours in over 75 countries in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, North America, South America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.[1] It is a subsidiary of The Travel Corporation. Its tours historically had a reputation for partying;[2][3] however, it also operates wellness trips culturally immersive experiences that focus less on alcohol, which are more popular with Generation Z.[4] The company owns lodging facilities in Europe, including the Chateau De Cruix, a 16th century castle in the Beaujolais wine region, and the Gasthof Schoneck in the Austrian Tyrol. The name "Contiki" comes from the portmanteau 'Con' from the word 'Continent' and 'Tiki'; from the Māori referring to the first man, often symbolised as a pendant known as hei-tiki. It can also be attributed to the New Zealand slang 'Tiki-tour' describing taking a longer route to a destination in order to explore.[5]

This trip was incredible! The activities available ranged from climbing red sand dunes and star gazing in the desert, to getting up close to giraffes, zebras, and lions on safari and kayaking with seals jumping up onto the boat. Our guide Often did an amazing job of showing us the highlights of Namibia. Long stretches on the road but the view of the beautiful and changing landscape along the way made it all so worth it! Would highly recommend this trip to anyone wanting to explore the path less travelled and immerse themselves into Namibian culture. Very easy booking process!

Had a great time; really awesome trip with a good itinerary. Saw everything I wanted to see in Namibia and then some. *Personal information removed by Feefo*, the trip leader, was excellent. Would highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for an adventure! Trip was easy to book.. communication about the trip was a little lacking in comparison to other companies that create web pages and whats app groups weeks to months prior to a trip start date.

Namibia is a beautiful place. The accommodation was good. A lot of driving involved which should definitely be stated on the trip details. However the trip manager was not helpful at all - my dietary requirements (pescatarian) were never taken into account and there were instances where nothing was prepared for me and I had to ask at the dinner table. I was also told in one instance to just eat the chicken. The trip manager ruined the experience and also made a night uncomfortable with his "political" views. We don't go on Contiki for this. Ive been on multiple Contiki trips any by far the worst.

I absolutely loved my time on Nomadic Namibia! Beautiful people and a beautiful country. We had a good mix of adventure activities, and scenic spots! A lot of driving but worth it. Often the trip manager was amazing NA Super easy on the booking end. Didn't have any communication with contiki or booking partners. Only felt adding post night was awkward about wouldn't allow the addition

All the excursions on the Namib desert blew my mind. Would love to do it again. Best day, was seal kayaking, Atv's and sandboarding with spectacular landscapes in between. To connect with the locals, the way the Namibia trip allows you to, was an incredible experience. It's not always everyone's favourite part, but it was so worth diving deep into the cultural history of the locals and the land, you'll meet very interesting people and have many deep meaningful conversations if you're up for it. I would have loved an extra day to experience Etosha, nonetheless a life changing experience :)

This trip was a perfect weeklong getaway and I'll carry the memories with me for the rest of my life! My only complaints were from the schedule- Monday especially and Tuesday as well were kind of slow in terms of activities; most of the time was spent driving to the next destination. Otherwise, the activities are great and can definitely test anyone's fear of heights climbing the sand dunes and sandboarding! Our small group blended very well and I'll forever appreciate Often's knowledge of Namibia and his care and effort he put into this week for us. This trip is part of the larger Southern Africa trip (something I didn't know before booking), so most people had started in South Africa 2 weeks prior. I look forward to my next Africa trip and participating in the other Contikis there!
