We recommend pre-purchasing advance entry tickets for popular attractions such as the Sistine Chapel, Villa Borghese, and the Colosseum to avoid waiting in long queues on the day of your visit.

7

Day 7: Rome

Today, new travellers may join you for the rest of the adventure. You are welcome to join them at a group meeting this evening, followed by an optional dinner.

Both guides I had during my trip were fantastic and very knowledgeable and the opportunity to visit various countries was fantastic. However I felt the price of the tour did not accurately reflect the level of accommodation and transport provided at certain times. On occasion some hostels, especially in Rome and Venice were of very poor standard, and then having to take a local public bus instead of the planned private shuttle from Slovenia to Vienna.

The tour was a great way to travel with like minded people. Everyone on the tour was so friendly and the CEO was absolutely AMAZING. Going on the tour solo, it was very helpful to be with a group and a guide that keeps track of information and gives great recommendations of things to do and where to eat.

The trip was fantastic and all the locations that the tour guides recommended to go were great. The amount of time spent in each city was perfect and a great way to experience a taste of the culture. One of the let downs of the tour was some of the accommodation. The hostel in Rome appeared very dirty and toilet seats were missing. It would be beneficial to have clearer communication pre-tour of the hostels that we will be staying at and estimated departure and arrival times of each destination. This would make it easier to book in for things. Diana and Dayana were both fantastic. They both went above and beyond which made the tour very enjoyable. I'd give the both 10 out of 10 for their expertise and service.

The overall style off G Adventures is good, including travel, however the downside of G Adventures is the accommodation. This is in regards to the need to check out and check in at the same hostel when new people join is such an inconvenience and is very unhelpful especially when trips are planned for the day but we are required to go back and re-check in despite being in the same group, staying at the same place. Additionally, some chosen hostels could be improved such as Slovenia and organisation of rooms on the first day.

There are some real pro',s and con',s to this type of tour but I think the primary issue we had was mismatched expectations. When booking this tour, your website made it seem like you could book activities with your guide but once we got on tour it became apparent that this was a DIY tour. This was disappointing on our first day because I had really wanted to go to Giverney/Monet',s Garden, which was an opt-in activity listed on the itinerary. However, my CEO pointed out this was a 4hr round trip that was not feasible to do without going on a privare tour, which was too late to arrange at that point, particularly as the welcome picnic at the Eiffel was scheduled that first day so I would have missed that. it's disappointing because I had time in Paris before the start of the tour and could have found time to do that but thought it would be good to do with other people on the tour. Another couple in our group missed out on the Moulin Rouge and the catacombs in Paris for the same reason. More annoyingly for them, they had contacted your company before the tour to clarify if they had to book themselves and were told they could book things with the CEO. The trouble with the self-booking system you have is we were doing it last minute and had limited choices because the G Adventures itinerary lacked details of when we would arrive or when group activities would be to book stuff around this. Being told on the fly only works if everything is organised for you. What is frustrating though with your system, is if we had booked in advance anyway there is a good chance we would have missed out on things booked. For example, the itinerary in the app implies that we had a whole day in Venice but we only really had from about 3pm and therefore could not get to Murano as we hoped. Interestingly, in our second week we got a brief itinerary with our hostels listed but we didn't get this in our first week. Communication before the tour should really be clearer. There was no check-in before we started. The only reason we knew when to meet our tour on the first day was because we got our travel agent to contact you. don't get me wrong, Dayana our CEO was lovely and helpful but she was limited in what she could do for us. The other issue is that the accommodation was really hit and miss in quality.

Not having to think about booking transportation. Having a group leader that knows things to do/how to do it

I believe that having a guide is very important while traveling abroad. They show you where to go and what to do. They stear you clear of tourist traps and scams. The tour guide has the ability to really inhance the groups experience.

I like the style of travel and the freedom it provides, but also that group dynamic meeting and sharing in experiences with new people. Also group size of 16 is good, with it not being to big.

Overall, my experience with G Adventures exceeded my expectations and made travel simple. If my friend or family members asked about this trip, I would say that it allowed me to enjoy my vacation without worrying about the things that typically make travel more stressful (i.e., accommodations, public transit, etc.). My guide, Daya, was knowledgeable, passionate, and an overall joy to be around.
