Terrible Experience with Trafalgar's Guest Services Our experience with Trafalgar's Guest Services was extremely disappointing. We contacted them during our tour with urgent concerns, and it took days for them to respond. When they finally did, their answer was dismissive-they told us we'd have to wait until after the trip for any resolution. This left us feeling helpless and unheard while still on the tour. After the trip, we reached out again hoping for some accountability, but instead received a detailed response that completely brushed off all of our concerns. They offered no remedy or compensation for the issues we raised, despite how much we paid for the tour (the only thing they offered was a discount on a future tour, which given our experience, was meaningless because we don't plan to take another Trafalgar tour in the future). It was clear that they were not interested in making things right. We expected better service from a company like Trafalgar, and this experience left us frustrated and dissatisfied. I would not recommend relying on their guest services for any meaningful support. Avoid Trafalgar's Splendors of Japan with Hiroshima Tour! I strongly advise against booking Trafalgar's Splendors of Japan with Hiroshima tour. While our guide was professional, they spoke to us like we were children, which quickly became condescending and frustrating. The itinerary was poorly planned, with way too much time spent on the bus and not nearly enough time at the actual attractions. Despite the sweltering heat, there were no adjustments made to accommodate the weather, leaving us uncomfortable and exhausted. The hotels were outdated, and no precautions were taken to ensure guests' health, which was especially concerning during a group tour (the majority of the guests ended up getting sick during the tour). The experience felt far too touristy and staged rather than authentic, making it a huge letdown for anyone hoping to truly experience Japan. Group meals were also disappointing-unimaginative and lacking local flair. Considering the price, this tour is not worth it. Between the rushed schedule, uninspired itinerary, and lack of concern for guests' comfort and health, it was a major disappointment. I would recommend looking elsewhere if you want a meaningful, well-organized trip to Japan.

Highly recommend the 13 day journey. Interesting "experiences" such as making your own sushi, kimono dress 10 course Japanese dinner, many interesting parks, Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples. Excellent hotels. If you can find a tour hosted by tour director ***********, book it. She's a gem.

A lot of filler excursions -water tower, Saki tasting, etc. Guide was very punctual and got us where we needed to be Not in depth on English so she was hard to converse with or ask questions to. Most hotels really nice but was one too small for two people. Not the accommodations promised. Out of 10,I would give the whole experience a 7.

It is impossible to get someone on the phone with any authority to solve problems. It was very boring. Nothing exciting. Long bus rides with no diversity. No walks. This was good if you only wanted to hit a lot of places with no depth. 2 hotels you could not even walked outside. You were in the middle of nowhere. When you asked about choices in the group dinner you were given non. And not told what exactly was for dinner or lunch. The guide was very vague. When we stop at bus stop everyone thought we had another hour more before we reached the lunch spot. So most of us got ice cream, then we got back on the bus and 15 minutes later was lunch. No one had a clue. This was almost every day there was misunderstanding and nothing was explained.

Great service and attention to all details. The tour was so much fun and informative. We would never have been able to see or do as much on our own. It was so nice not to have to worry about details, luggage, check-ins or where to eat. Our tour director, Kazuko Watanabe, was very knowledgeable and tended to every detail. She explained Japanese customs and culture with reverence and sometimes with funny anecdotes. Kazuko went out of her way to make sure that the day's plans and schedule were understood and to answer all questions. She wanted to make sure that we all enjoyed ourselves and even stood in line and watched over our luggage on our way to the airport so that we could eat our boxed breakfast in the hotel lobby. We really felt a bond with her by the end of our tour and will miss her.

Our experience: 1. No signs in the hotel in Tokyo for our welcome meeting. 2. Wrong to call it day one when the meeting starts 8 pm and did not really inform us about anything. 3. The tour took us to Ginza for shopping before opening hours. Everything closed. The shops didn't open before we left. 4. When Trafalgar arranged lunch and dinner they were put on the same day instead of spreading them out.

Horrible transportation options to the airport once the tour ended. I think better lunch and dinner restaurants is appropriate for the cost of this tour. I was disappointed on several of the lunch and dinner meals provided. Rest stops were our lunches were held, at travelers expense.

Felt it was too long but the 9 day did not include Hiroshima, which is a must see. Tour included too many temples and shrines. I did not enjoy the included lunch or dinners as it was do it yourself cooking and not in "good" places. Some places looked too" run down" and not clean for a Japanese establishment, known for cleanliness. Tour though was well organized, always on time. Tour Director was very knowledgeable, polite, always facilitated us in any request, and learnt everyone's names which would have been difficult for her, but this made it more personal.

Hi. Was a good trip and having a local guide helped a lot. The trip went to some great destinations. Hotels on average were good. The tour included a number of local meals, some self cooked, that was a positive. Only one drink included on the first night, with no wine for my wife, that was very stingy, given how cheap Japan is. (Was in Tokyo for 3 days before the tour and took a 7 day private tour in Korea for the same daily per person cost as your tour, all drinks included) No rotation on the bus, some people always rushed to take the front seats. Time allocation was not always optimal, however, that is likely to be person dependent.

Our tour director, Hiroko, was amazing!!!! She not only made everything seamless, she did all the tour guiding. She was a wealth of knowledge. One night after the Trafalgar itinerary was done, we wanted to go out and just mentioned to Hiroko where we were planning to go, she not only told us what subway train to take/platform, she walked us to it and showed us how to buy our tickets and read the map, figure out the cost, etc. To say she exceeded any expectations is an understatement. She delivered on the itinerary with unfailing enthusiasm and professionalism. It was one of the best trips we have ever taken. We believe we saw the best of every place we visited in Japan! The itinerary has a variety of activities from seeing temples and shrines, Mount Fuji, visiting a Samurai house, experiencing modern and traditional Japanese culture. It has a lot of activity, but there are periods of rest for those needing it.

I have been a repeat customer of Trafalgar for years and have some amazing tour directors who made the trip outstanding. This was my worst experience. Prior to the trip beginning, I received no contact information as a welcoming email. I reached out to trafalgar US and was told this was not necessary as I had my itinerary. If I needed further information contact trafalgar Europe, which I did. They informed me that if I needed assistance just call them upon arrival. Our first night meeting tour director, informed us she doesn't work overtime. This trip was listed as dynamic activity, our first full day in Tokyo we were back in hotel by 230 left to our own devices. We had no local specialists on this tour. We were taken to Kanazawa at 930 in morning after gold leaf painting for 45 min when none of shops were open. We were rushed through fish market with no time to look as this was our hour lunch break. Others on tour had complained to local offices about not having a contact number for tour director in case of emergency and they were pulled aside advised it was her personal phone and if we needed assistance contact hotel front desk staff. We asked for more interaction on trip like teaching us common phrases and instead of actually speaking to us they were printed on paper and passed out. Each day we received numerous copies of unreadable maps instead of actual suggestions on where to go or history of town. Itinerary was filled with lots of filler activities with a country as diverse as Japan there could have been a lot more included. There was also a kimono activity that was removed from our optional experiences with no explanation. I had also registered in my special events that I was celebrating birthday. There were others on trip who were as well and she lumped them all together at beginning of trip, which I was not included in. I brought this to her attention and was told she doesn't have this information that she would need to contact trafalgar. We were taken to an out door barbecue on a day that it was 95 degrees to cook meat over open fire because we were told there wasn't many restaurants in area post Covid. Huge lack of effort on the part of tour director in leading this group. There was another trip running concurrently to ours that had an outgoing and extrovert tour guide who was all smiles, extremely disappointed in value of trip for the money that was paid.

Transportation was excellent. Drivers were excellent. Most of the hotels were excellent. A few had too small of rooms. Our tour guide was very good except for moving too fast. The itinerary was fine, too many shrines. I wanted to see Japan, not what seemed to be a monument to every Tom and Harry monk. Too many shopping centers. No one liked the fish market. I guess it was just the overwhelming smell. Our tour guide talked too much about architects and didn't seem to care how far behind her tour group was spread out. We'd get slowed in crowds or at crosswalk lights and she just kept zooming down the street. Organized, definitely. Timed everything out, absolutely. Sometimes so we had difficulty seeing what we can to Japan for.

Trafalgar is a first class travel experience that is interactive, celebrates the locale, and makes traveling easy! Ako was a wonderful guide through Japan. We made origami cranes on the bus, she taught us songs, and was unflappable as she led us through busy sites and train stations. We had lots of time on our own, while seeing the major sites at each stop. Trafalgar trips are the best!
