Itinerary

1
Day 1-Join trip at our hotel in Les Houches near Chamonix

The trip starts today at our chalet-style hotel in the village of Les Houches in the Chamonix Valley. Our tour leader plans to meet everyone in the hotel reception at 6pm for a welcome meeting and trek briefing. Afterwards, for those that wish, there will be the chance to dine together as a group either at the hotel or a nearby local restaurant. There are no other activities planned for today. We don't include an arrival transfer on this tour but it's easy to reach our joining hotel in Les Houches independently. The easiest way to get from the airport to our hotel is via the Mountain Drop Offs shared shuttle bus service, which departs regularly from Geneva Airport throughout the day and takes just over an hour. The shuttle will drop you at the door of the hotel, tickets cost €50 and can be booked online at https://www.mountaindropoffs.com/. If you miss the welcome meeting, our tour leader will inform you of any essential information as soon as you catch up. Please note that the official check-in time at the hotel is from 3 pm, although rooms will be allocated as soon as they are available. If you arrive earlier in the day and would like to explore, the lively centre of Chamonix, with its many shops and pavement cafes, is just 15 minutes away by local bus.

Definitely the climbs to the Cols but also the fact that the group all got on very well. I was the oldest walker, at 63, so the age spread suited me well.

A challenging but unforgettable trip in extremely beautiful wild surroundings. Well worth it if you are genuinely in training and fit enough to undertake the long, strenuous days. The accommodation and food are varied which for me added to the interest but some might find inconsistent. Our leader was charming, professional, very competent and helped everyone to get the most out of the trip. I will be looking out for more of Explore’s higher challenge treks!

Has to be the best Explore group I have experienced! Our group leader was encouraging and prepped us well the night before. He was knowledgeable when it comes to climbing and hiking, and gave us good advice. Completing the TMB is such an accomplishment!

Our guide was amazing, Oli was the best part of our trip. His expertise and guidance led u through an unforgettable experience through the alps. Without him I don’t believe the experience would have been half as good. When I plan my next hike our guide will be taken into consideration. I can easily see how a bad guide will deflate the experience. I look forward to hiking with Oli and explore again.

Le Tour du Mont Blanc was excellent. Our guide, Alphonso, was the best! He was knowledgeable, attentive, inspiring, patient & resourceful. The group was great. All walks of life, many ages, and lovely people. The food was plentiful and good. Lodgings were good. The Auburges reminded us how life can be on the trail. A clean bed was welcomed daily. The hiking was tough, as promised but the experience was once in a lifetime!
