Ready to step into Vietnam’s past? You’ll visit the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first national university from the 11th century. It’s a beautiful example of traditional Vietnamese architecture—and if you’ve got a 100,000 dong note, you’ll spot it right there. Next, hop on a cyclo, a three-wheeled bicycle taxi, and cruise through Hanoi’s Old Quarter, known for its 36 streets once home to artisan guilds. You’ll also view the striking Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and then go inside the One Pillar Pagoda and Ho Chi Minh’s peaceful wooden house. The trip that changed my life. Terra in Cambodia was excellent. He went out of his way to ensure that we had a wonderful experience. He often said and it was very apparent that he loves his job! It was eye opening to experience the struggles the Cambodian people have faced over the years and the daily struggle to survive that is still evident. It put our first world problems into perspective for me. Tommy in Vietnam was unfortunately not as good. Although we had a comprehensive tour of the country (cities, villages, small towns) he did not carry a flag or umbrella which would have made it easier to find him in crowded areas. He walked far ahead of the group and often did not stop to make sure we were still all together. He also spoke with a thick accent that made him very difficult to understand. Despite this, the group enjoyed the trip. Seeing a country so far out of my personal experience was wonderful. This was a two part trip with the majority (10 days) spent in Vietnam and three days spent in Cambodia. The Cambodia itinerary/trip changed my life. The tour director provided many personal experiences that we would never have had otherwise. We visited a Buddhist monastery, met with a Buddhist monk who answered questions on what his life is like and then received a blessing. We visited amazing temples that date back to the year 1200 with a knowledgeable scholar in the field. We visited farming villages and experienced how the locals live and saw a traditional Cambodian dance. The hotel was beautiful, clean and comfortable; the food was delicious. Vietnam was slightly different. Many of the included activities (water puppet show, visit to the HoChiMinh Mausoleum, enamel art, silk making) were not available. The itinerary was actually significantly different from the Trafalgar itinerary the group expected. Fortunately it was a small group (22) because the TD seemed to have difficulty keeping track of the group. We left someone in the hotel on the first day and lost someone at the Bana Hill (Golden Hands Bridge). The Vietnam War Museum and the cooking class at Red Bridge were outstanding. I do not recommend the optional activities. They are definitely overpriced.

Fantastic trip, I would definitely recommend it! I give 4 stars because of the couple of hotels that we didn't have a great experience in. The Sofitel in Saigon, the room had a severe lack of storage for two people which meant my husband didn't even unpack. The service wasn't great overall, many of us were left waiting a long time for food only to be presented with lukewarm dishes and we were unable to charge anything to our room, unlike all the other hotels we stayed in. The Imperial Hotel in Hue wasn't great either. I would suggest that three days in Hoi An is unnecessary, a day or two in Danang would have been great to chill a bit and enjoy a hotel by the beautiful beach. Include the Golden Bridge as an excursion or at least an option, it's a must see IMO. We had an incredible experience on this, our first organized tour. Our tour director Thom was fantastic, he had everything so well organized, he was always friendly, approachable and very knowledgeable of the history and culture of Viet Nam.

I thought that the tour was expensive, however at the end it was good value for money. As most of the guests on the trip were on the elderly side (over 60 years of age) having a walk in shower in all the bedrooms would be a big plus. I only had 1 shower in the bath but other guests had them regularly. Maybe a bit more free time as most days were very intense.

Vietnam/ Cambodia trip-- overall good but with suggestions. The coordination of each country tour was nice. We were surprised that there was minimal coordination between our tour in Vietnam and our connecting tour in Cambodia. We did not even have the contact information for our tour director for Cambodia until we arrived to the airport in Siam Reap. Vietnam itinerary was great. Good exposure to different cities. We did not get to do many optional experiences that were listed originally in the itinerary. They were not offered during our trip for some reason. Cambodia itinerary was also nice. The optional experience of the Khmer cooking class was terrible-- we recommend removing it as an option. Several of the hotels (Melia in Hanoi, Sofitel in Ho Chi Minh City) were incredible. However, other hotels chosen by Trafalgar (Imperial Hotel in Hue, Tara Angkor in Siam Reap) were really bad quality. There were nearby hotels in both cities that were only slightly more costly and significantly better experience and ratings.

Vietnam and Angkor Wat Hotels were fine excellent staff nothing was too much trouble. A varied itinerary with something for everybody especially enjoyed Hoi An but memorable things were Train Street in Hanoi Water puppets and the Prison The show in Saigon and the final dinner at the Ambassador’s House was fabulous In Cambodia we enjoyed the monk’s blessing and the trip around the village by tractor The weather was not good on our visit to Angkor Wat but very interesting trips to all the temples although a “bit templed out” by end of holiday. Food at show in Siem Reap was poor but enjoyed the show. It was very tiring but very interesting The guide in Vietnam “*Personal information removed by Feefo*”was excellent and very caring especially with the less mobile members. You should definitely mention that this trip involves a lot of walking often over uneven surfaces.

Great customer care. As always Trafalgar took a good care of us. *personal details removed by Feefo* did his best to keep the guests informed of the itinerary. He went above and beyond addressing various issues that came up during the trip. Like constant updates via WhatsApp. Trip filled with various activities yet not overwhelming. Excellent tour directors, special thanks to *personal details removed by Feefo* for exceptional customer care! Our trip started in Hanoi and ended in Siam Reap. We had to fly to Phnom Penh for the international flight back home. Another version of the trip had a Phnom Penh extension which was not available to me at the time of booking. I think we had a little too much time in Siam Reap, and it would be better to cut a day/half a day there and add at least a day in Phnom Penh. Other than that- all great memories!

Hinduism - Buddhism - Communism: Viet Nam and Cambodia. Everything was great. The itinerary was well-structured, although we felt that the third day in Hoi An, Viet Nam was not strictly necessary. The guide THOM, in Viet Nam made all the difference. His knowledge and understanding of his country is both wide and deep. Given the contentious nature of recent Viet Namese history, and the presence of several Americans who had fought in the war, Thom maintained a balanced and neutral position on all controversial topics. He is exceptional. He was, in every way, a true Ambassador for his country and probably does a better job than the official ambassadors... In fact, I felt that he should be running the country... The Viet Nam segment of the itinerary was predominantly about its CULTURE. The food and general background, historic buildings, natural scenery were well-chosen and interesting. We spent a shorter time in Cambodia, to see the extraordinary temple complex of Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. Our guide was younger than the Vietnamese guide. That did not matter, because of the majesty of the Angkor ruins - they spoke for themselves. We were kept very busy on this tour and we felt that a little bit of extra time could have been given in Viet Nam for shopping and chilling out. But this is not a criticism. Our son, Alexis Schofield, was put into room 511 at the Saigon Sofitel 5 star hotel. It was smaller and had no view whatsoever. It should not be utilized for Trafalgar guests.

Hotels are good, I felt well accompanied and supported by them, no complaint. One thing you could add is a Viator tour called Hidden gems of Hoi Ann. It is incredible. It is done in very small group. You see the last man making Cau Lau noddle, a soya bean producer, a peanut and rice field. You have a chance to have a better and more personal food tour, to the market.
